Members of the Summerville Preservation Society sat back and soaked in a burst of historical tidbits about the Lowcountry, including a detailed account of 'The Goose Creek Men,' depicted as 'founding fathers of the deep south,' by former Goose Creek Mayor Dr. Mike HeitzlerTechnical difficulties during the Oct. 27 presentation at the Old Town Hall on West Carolina Avenue was hardly a deterrent for the 75-year-old walking reservoir of South Carolina history, who explained why the mountain men made their way into Goose Creek — sans the aid of PowerPoint visuals.
