Credit: Goose Creek Police Department GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – The Goose Creek Police Department plans to hire additional school resource officers and purchase several patrol cruisers thanks to a state grant. The department announced Tuesday it was awarded the 2023–24 School Resource Officer Grant in the amount of $638,770 from the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. This will be the third consecutive year that GCPD has received this grant and increased its grant-funded positions from two to five officers, Captain James Emerson said in a news release.
